IQNA – Man has many dimensions and aspects and is present in all emanations of existence.

Holy month of Ramadan

One of the Hikmas (philosophies) of the holy month of Ramadan is to turn man’s attention away from the wrong paths and direct it to the path that leads him to God.

Man has vegetable, animal, human and even divine aspects. Given these abilities and the different aspects in man, it is necessary to prepare the ground for these potentials to blossom. Sometimes, because of the attractiveness of the material aspects, one may neglect other aspects, and so his ability is not put on the path of blossoming. That is when worldly affairs divert one's attention from a place where one is rooted.

Ramadan is a month that helps man remember his main and fundamental aspects and prevents him from paying attention to aspects that lead him to destruction. As long as one treads the path of lust and anger or the path of imaginary understandings, he has not reached the stage of wisdom and growth and cannot move on the path of humanity.

The mission of the blessed month of  is to turn man away from deviated paths and place him on the path that leads him to God. In fact, it draws his attention to the ultimate goal he has been created for.

Only when man abandons the wrong paths and takes the straight path to God, the Almighty, can we say that he is on the path to the blossoming of his faculties.

The Holy Quran says one of the blessings of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan is attaining growth and Taqwa (God-fearing, piety):

“Believers, fasting has been made mandatory for you as it was made mandatory for the people before you, so that you may have fear of God.” (Verse 183 of Surah Al-Baqarah)
